This game was made in under 96 hours for the GMTK Game Jam 2024 The theme "Built To Scale" see how we did

Brief

You have been left in space to die alone, but not all hope is lost. You have the knowledge and some of the resources needed to survive as long as possible.
Your Goal: Build a metropolis of a spacecraft and try to stay alive as conditions get harsher and harsher.

How To Play

Build tiles onto your ship using collected space junk. Once you have gathered a large amount of resources, you can use the scale slider to build bigger tiles. Scaled tiles are much more efficient at their jobs than a grid of their smaller variants in the same footprint would ever be.

Controls

WASD - Fire thrusters (move)
Space - Slow down (fire thrusters in the other direction)
Q/E - Rotate directional tiles before placing them
Click - Activate/Deactivate toggleable tiles
Esc - Pause

Tiles

Grabber Grabber

  • Follows your mouse and collects space junk
  • Larger sizes are automatic, use fuel and are toggleable

Storage Storage

  • Holds collected space junk
  • Junk is used to build and can be refined into fuel

Tank Tank

  • Stores fuel
  • Fuel is consumed by  Thrusters, Shields, and Auto Grabbers

Refinery Refinery

  • Refines junk into fuel
  • Toggleable

Thruster Thruster

  • Allows movement in one direction
  • More thrusters will create more force
  • Consumes fuel
  • Directional

Shield Shield

  • Creates force field that pushes junk away
  • Consumes fuel
  • Toggleable

ArmourArmour

  • Deflects space junk
  • Can't be built off of
  • Can't be scaled
  • Directional

Connector Connector

  • Fills empty space

Tips

  • If you are struggling to stay alive, try moving slower. Higher impact collisions do more damage.
  • Larger tiles are more efficient than a grid of smaller tiles that fill the same space.
  • If your ship is moving too slowly, build more thrusters or build bigger thrusters.
  • Coating your ship in armor is cheap, but wasteful because you have to destroy it in order to expand your ship. Try using shields.
